Pitchforks at the ready! The fight goes on!

Wes Streeting MP for Ilford North, with fellow Aldborough Ward Councillors Debbie Kaur-Thiera and John Howard (seen standing in front of the St. Peter’s church noticeboard), joined with residents who are appalled at Brett Tarmac staging a consultation exhibition outside Aldborough Hatch at a football ground. This is inaccessible for the majority of those whose homes would be affected by any further sand and gravel extraction on land adjoining the Grade II Listed Buildings of St Peter’s Church and Aldborough Hatch Chapel.  The 153-year-old St. Peter’s Church was built without proper foundations – as was the practice at the time – and there are fears that extraction of sand and gravel in close proximity would cause major structural damage to this much loved building. Also in the photograph is the Revd Kate Lovesey, Priest-in-Charge, who has expressed her fears for the safety of the church building to Brett Tarmac. Dust from the excavations and lorries carrying the materials away would be a health hazard to the children at the nearby pre-school nursery, students from William Torbitt School accessing Fairlop Waters, golfers and those using the Aldborough Hall Equestrian Centre.
Note the pitchforks! We are country-folk at heart and know how to use 'em!
