I have been to Fairlop Waters twice today - the first time in a car with the ILFORD RECORDER photographer and the second time on the Milk Float for SCOUTING about. I will refrain from telling you the purpose of the first visit except to say that I had to lie on the ground for the photograph. All will be revealed in the ILFORD RECORDER on Thursday - so I am told.
The second visit was to pick blackberries. I now know where to do this - for some areas are picked-out, as they say. I found some plump berries near the lagoon - the lack of rain means that most berries are small but those near the lagoon were benefitting from the damp ground I guess. Home to make four apple and blackberry crumbles which will go into the freezer later this evening.
