And now for something different! On a great Saturday afternoon - when the sun shone fleetingly but the rain stayed away - I trotted over to Barkingside with my camera.
LIGHT NIGHT at the Ken Aston Square was a great community event with members of the diverse community getting together for an afternoon and evening of fun and dance - ranging from a Cockney Sing-Song to Bollywood Dancing
The performance by Dress Circle was filled with surprises. An ingenious giant lady’s dress hid performers who performed acrobatics and plate spinning to the delight off the audience. I laughed and laughed.
The Cockney sing-along performed on area outside the Leisure Centre with Pearly Kings and Queens from East London joined by member of the diverse community of Redbridge - and a police officer!
Kuntals School of Dance celebrated the 70th year of India’s Independence with a parade along Barkingside High Street starting at Iceland at 5pm. They then performed to the delight of the large crowd that had gathered to see the wide age range taking part.
Just a pity that more folk did not know about this - I only found out mid-week.
