Bulb planting for the spring!

Spring bulbs in October! No, these photographs were taken in early March this year! Over the past two autumns we have planted some 5,000 spring bulbs on the pathways at St. Peter's with a magnificent show in the spring. On Saturday next, 7th October, we will be out there again - this time with just under 2,000 bulbs. Donations from members of S. Peter's and residents, and a gift of bulbs from B & Q, means that more Tete a Tete (daffodil to you and me), dwarf tulips, crocus and snowdrops will be planted where there are spaces - and these shots will help us locate the spaces available so that we do not dig up the old bulbs! The snowdrops will be planted in clumps outside the porch - as the first bulbs to flower they will tell us that spring is on its way as we enter and leave the church . Some bulbs are designated for the new garden too. From 10am to 12noon on Saturday we will be planting with coffee and tea to keep us warm and hot sausages in rolls for lunch at noon. Do join us if you are hereabouts. And please come in the spring to see the show - early March would be the best time.
